long-lasting make-up tips

3 steps to make your make-up last all night long

Keeping your make-up flawless for long hours can seem like a challenge, especially at important events or celebrations that go on until dawn. However, with the right products and key techniquesno matter how long the party lasts, it is possible to look fresh and radiant no matter how long the party lasts.

In this post we share with you tips and tricks to make your make-up stand up to even the most intense nights in 3 steps. Pay attention!

Step 1: Prepare your skin properly

The key to long-lasting make-up starts before any product is applied. Well-prepared skin not only ensures that make-up adheres better, but also prolongs its longevity:

  1. Deep cleaning

Make sure your skin is thoroughly cleansed before you begin. A gentle cleanser that removes excess oil and dirt is a must to prevent make-up from sliding off.

  1. Hydration

While it may not seem like moisturising is that important for long-lasting make-up, the truth is that dry skin tends to absorb make-up and can cause patchiness. Use a light cream and let it absorb well before moving on.

In addition, using a moisturising cream allows you to remove your make-up better afterwards and avoid spots and blemishes on oily skin (make sure it is non-comedogenic).

  1. First

A good primer is the final step in preparation. Of course, it must be matched with your skin type

  • Oily skin: look for mattifying foundations that control excess shine.
  • Dry skin: opt for moisturising pre-bases that add radiance.
  • Visible pores: use a smoothing primer for an even finish.

Step 2: Make-up must be long-lasting

Once your skin is ready, it's time to choose the products that will ensure your makeup stays intact for hours.

In addition, here the classic normal bases are not validthere are make-up bases Specially designed to make them last much longer throughout the day. We tell you about it in detail:

Foundation and concealer, always together

  • Choose products designed to withstand the test of time, such as the Clarins Everlasting Youth foundation. You will see that these types of foundations are usually light, precisely because formulating them in this way is what makes them last longer over time.
  • Use a brush or sponge to apply small amounts of foundation, building coverage little by little. This prevents makeup from caking and lines that you don't have.
  • Concealer is going to be your best ally once you leave the house, so use a sturdy one with good coverage. We like the Shiseido Synchro Skin Concealer

Shadows and eyeliners to keep shape

  • Cream or liquid eyeshadows: These formulas tend to have a better hold than powder shadows. Opt for metallic or matte shades to complement your look if you have no choice but to use powder shadows, apply a dab of petroleum jelly on the eyelids beforehand to improve fixation.
  • Waterproof eyeliners: are essential to prevent eye make-up from smudging, especially if you wear contact lenses or have frequent tearing or irritation.
  • Waterproof curler and mascara: As with eyeliner, if you're a frequent blinker or water-blinker, a waterproof mascara will help you avoid getting those cracks under your eyes.

Perfect lips 24/7

  • Lip stains and long-lasting liquid lipsticks are your best allies. They are designed to keep the colour even if you eat or drink.
  • The order of application would be: soft petroleum jelly to moisturise, eyeliner, lipstick, lip tint.
  • Another extra trick: use a little red eye shadow or blusher that matches the colour. It's best to do this just after the lipstick, as a fixative, and then apply the lip tint on top.

Step 3: Seal the look

Once you've applied your make-up, it's essential to set it so it lasts until dawn. This step is crucial to keep the finish flawless, no matter how much you dance, laugh or move throughout the night:

1. Use translucent powder to set foundation

  • What they do: absorb excess oil and seal in foundation and concealer to prevent them from moving or pooling in fine lines.
  • How to apply them: Use a large, soft brush to apply a light layer of translucent powder to key areas: forehead, nose and chin. If your skin tends to be oily, apply to the cheeks as well.

2. Fixing spray

  • Why it matters: A good setting spray not only prolongs the life of your make-up, but also helps all products to set, creating a more natural and even effect.
  • How to use it: Hold the spray about 20 cm from your face and apply in an X and T-shape to cover the entire surface.

3. Set Lips with translucent powders

  • Extra trick: After applying your lipstick, place a tissue over your lips and brush a translucent powder over it. This creates an invisible barrier that prolongs the colour's longevity.

What should you avoid to make your make-up last longer?

Just as we recommend what you can do to keep your look intact all night long, you should also be aware of what to avoid:

  1. Do not touch your face constantly: avoid rubbing your eyes, resting your face in your hands or adjusting your make-up with your fingers, as this can transfer oil and ruin the look.
  2. Don't apply thousands of products in touch-ups: Over layering powder or lipstick can create a stiff effect. It is preferable to adjust directly with a lipstick or a little concealer rather than overdoing it with powder. Use small amounts to maintain naturalness.
  3. Don't forget to moisturise your lips: at the end of the day, between drinks and meals, lips can lose a little of their initial intensity. If you see that you've lost a lot, first of all moisturise them, and then reapply the lipstick. That way they'll last longer, you won't get chapped lips and you won't have to touch them up.

Long-lasting makeup is not a matter of luck, but of preparation, technique and the right products. With the steps we've shared, you'll be able to look flawless all night long, without worrying about constant touch-ups or how you'll look in photos.
